40 Taipei 'cows' parade in Xiamen streets http://www.whatsonxiamen.comAs one of the most important supporting activities of 2010 Xiamen International CowParade, 40 Taipei cows were displayed in Xiamen's busy streets on Sunday (Jan. 31), which had drawn much attention from the local citizens.
At 11:00 am, the life-sized cows, which are all 1.5 meters high and 2.4 meters long, marched from Xiamen Genshen Zhiye Cultural and Creative Industry Park, the largest “cow centre” in the world. They paraded through SM Mall, Xiamen Railway Station, west Hexiang Road, Trust-mart shopping mall, Bailuzhou Square, Lundu Ferry Terminal Square and Yefeng Zhai beach.
These colourful, creative, beautiful and cute cows were created by famous artists, floral designers, folk artists, popular designers and students for the 2009 Taipei International CowParade. The citizens, including senior citizens, children, beautiful ladies, and lovers, were fully attracted and took their mobile phones and cameras to take photos with cows one after another.
The CowParade is jointly sponsored by Xiamen Federation of Literary and Art Circles, The Arts and Design College of Fuzhou University and Xiamen Taiwan Business Association. It is supported by the 14th Taiwan Trade Fair Organizing Committee and Xiamen Bureau of Culture. It will be undertaken by Xiamen Genshen Zhiye Cultural and Creative Industries Group.
Xiamen will be the 71st city in the world and the first city in the Chinese mainland to host this event following the 2009 Taipei International CowParade. Xiamen International CowParade, jointly planned by both sides of Taiwan Straits will be held on April 8th, 2010 at Xiamen. The grand festival preaches the idea that everyone is artist and encourages the entire people to participate in originality design.
Among the parading cows, the most popular one is from Andy Lau, a renowned Hong Kong star. According to the reporters, Andy. Lau's cow is called “Ben”, which has Andy Lau's autograph on its body. Born in the year of OX, Andy Lau regards this brainchild as his own son.
